These are two photos of my installation at the Jane Addams Hull House museum. The piece is called 28 square feet. Its purpose is to draw attention to the cramped living condition in early 20th century Chicago. Residents Of poorer communities only had 28 square feet per individual; this includes alleys streets, etc. The dimensions of the piece are obviously 28 square feet, and the colors on the balloon correspond to a map created by Hull House residents which documented the different races and income levels in the surrounding neighborhood.
